Last time I asked this, there was some confusion over whether I meant the characters of a show or the cast members themselves, so I’ll clarify straight up: which TV characters do you think you’d enjoy hanging out with?

Part of my pleasure in watching Boston Legal is that I think I’d enjoy spending time with just about any of the characters. Denny Crane is the one that I’m kind of iffy on, especially considering how often he fires his guns, but I’d easily imagine any of the characters would be a scintillating chat. I like to think Alan Shore and I in particular would get on like a house on fire; we share many similar politics, and where we differ, we’d have spirited conversation. But I also think Shirley would be a pleasure just to talk to – in many ways, she reminds me of my aunt. Jerry, of course, would be very easy to have a conversation with as a fellow neurodivergent, to the point that I wonder how he’d react to some of my thoughts on the subject.
