My, we have ourselves a thin week in terms of quantity of releases. Thank goodness the quantity is way up there for a few titles to make up for that. After all, this is the week you can finally see Orson Welles’ Shakespearean masterpiece Chimes at Midnight at a quality level above “My eyes, ze goggles do nothing!”, in addition to an excellent presentation of his final completed fictional film The Immortal Story. Plus there’s the Blu-Ray special edition of Alan Parker’s The Commitments. But best of all, this week sees the HD debut of Disco Godfather, the discofied anti-PCP film which might honestly be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Plus, it luckily comes out a few weeks before Civil War‘s home video debut, so whenever the Winter Soldier appears, you can be prepared to yell “Bucky, what have you done to yo’self? What has he had?” at the screen.
