This week has as many serial killers as CGI animal(ish) characters with spin-off TV shows, and it juxtaposes the queer pastimes of getting verklempt about your relationship with your parents and watching funny-sad Parker Posey movies. And it gives us the first part of Kevin Costner’s planned four-film passion project Horizon, now much more likely to be one theatrically-released bomb and one straight-to-Max dump. I’ve not yet heard anything about Chapter 1 more promising than a 3/5 and a slightly backhanded “good for them”, which I can’t imagine being enough to sustain me through three hours of the first-act of a Kevin Costner movie. The most I can give Costner is that blowing all this money and time so you can have sex with Abbey Lee in a movie is not unadmirable.
