Deadpool is definitely the big title this week, which is something of a problem, since I’m one of the last people who’s held out on seeing it. Many people who I trust and respect seemed to like it, but I so annoyed by just two minutes of the movie at a time that I’m not sure I’d get much out of it. So I have to look elsewhere for the big titles this week, and alas, there aren’t too many. There’s Criterion releasing Nicholas Ray’s classic In a Lonely Place, Cohen Media Group bringing the acclaimed Turkish coming-of-age drama Mustang to Blu-Ray, and Twilight Time giving those without a region-free player the ability to own Nicholas Roeg’s Eureka in high-def, and then some other stuff. Of course, any limey bastards reading this also get to experience Easy Rider on Criterion sans the necessary context provided by the BBS set, even though you can probably just watch Lost in America and get the gist of it.
