Sorry for the incredibly short notice of this post, but I feel this is something that will allow the Record Club to run smoother and with an album every weekday. No threat, Kate Bush will still be continuing all fine and well. But the week after Kate Bush’s discography is finished, and the voting and results for the next big artist(s) discography is done, there will be a three day gap. I haven’t liked to immediately go into an artists work after they have been voted; Monday is a nice date to start on, and with a case like Prince it take a while to get access to an album. Still, three days without music?
That is why I am doing this vote, only this time it is a little bit different than normal. Below, people can pick either artists with a discography of four or less, or classic/great albums from artists whose discography are too absurd to even cover, be that because the rest of their catalogue is not that good or because the amount of albums they released was absurd (such as Jazz artists).
The results here will be collected, and then the highest three or four acts or albums (at the very least until we have ten-twelve albums) will be placed in the spaces between other larger discographies. I’m not sure when exactly I will announce the results – probably close to when the Kate Bush run ends – so there is a large amount of time to get your suggestions voted and noticed.
But whilst we are collecting those, I have an idea for who our first “Peppering” act should be: Janelle Monae. She was popular in the Dissolve votes – third place – and it would be great to around a month of female led albums (“Record Club: Female Stuff Edition” as Dan Abnormal quipper). She also only has two full length albums, and an EP that ties in to her “Metropolis” theme, so that would be a great place to put her work.
Unless anyone has any objections about this; this is still based on everyone’s suggestions after all. If not, here is the schedule as it stands:
29/07 – Never for Ever
30//07 – The Dreaming
31/07 – Hounds of Love
03/08 – The Sensual World
04/08 – The Red Shoes
05/08 – Aerial
06/08 – The Director’s Cut
07/08 – 50 Words for Snow
10/08 – Voting Day
11/08 – Results
12/08 – Metropolis (EP)
13/08 – The ArcAndroid
14/08 – The Electric Lady
17/08 – New Artist
With that all said, cast your votes now…
EDIT: Just so there is no confusion, and to make voting easier, remember to pick one artist/album per comment
