Magic Mike’s Last Dance was Soderbergh’s first movie back in theaters in five years, and now it’s his first back on Blu-Ray in that same time (if ever there were streaming movies Criterion should be in the business of releasing, it’s his). We’re a long way from the time when Soderbergh movies were guaranteed at least an insightful commentary on home video, but at least this has a full version of Last Dance‘s standout double-decker bus sequence, not to mention it contains the great movie Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Otherwise we have what is apparently one of the signs that the movies are back, the one about the bear that fuckin’ did cocaine, and 4Ks of several iconic classics. Having just watched it, the opportunity to see Serpico’s wardrobe in the highest quality yet possible is a unique treat.
